Firefighter Competency Surveys
DoD continues to work on gathering information for its Strategic Human
Capital Planning for the future. You may recall what this is all about.
If not, then refresh your memory - see AFGE Firefighters website and
look at the January 1, 2011 News Release (under "News Archives") which will explain it. This is a good thing for the fire and emergency
services. DoD is gathering information to determine what type of fire
and emergency services personnel it will need in the future. By this,
what is meant is what competencies; what types of knowledge, skills and
abilities its personnel now have and what should they have in the
future. In order to gather information, DoD has prepared surveys. The
information gathered will form the basis of the work thus far as well as
it will help us in urging revisions to the GS-081classification
standards. Therefore, the AFGE Firefighters Council urges you to
complete the survey as carefully as possible and as soon as you receive
the official questionnaire. This data collected will be put to valuable
use and will help us in pursuing many of our administrative and
legislative objectives.

2011 AFGE FIREFIGHTER COUNCIL ACTION PLAN

The AFGE Firefighter Council (formerly the AFGE Federal Firefighter Steering Committee) is comprised of AFGE firefighters at federal facilities located throughout the country. The Council strives to provide its members with news, information and resources that will aid them as federal firefighter employees. It is structured to be an effective network for efficient communications between AFGE, the Council and its members.
